It is important to ensure that there is sufficient scaffolding around the child to support them through the therapeutic process.

Preparatory work with the wider system which surrounds the child may be helpful particularly when working with vulnerable or looked after children.

This might involve meeting with key people in the wider group of adults supporting the child, such as social workers and teachers.

Network meetings may be helpful when setting up and throughout the therapy. These meetings can keep the key people on board and aware of any developments or difficulties which arise.
