Back to Steps

Sometimes the dyads can use the sessions to think about and make sense of difficult events which are going on in their lives at the same time as the therapeutic intervention.

Examples might include

  • day to day conflicts or difficulties between the adult and child

  • school difficulties

  • the challenge of settling in to a foster placement

  • unexpected, frightening or traumatic events

The therapist can facilitate reflective discussions between adult and child exploring different perspectives and encouraging each one to mentalise the other.
